Cette sculpture de bronze en deux parties résume la démarche qui aboutira à la Panthère en granit noir (voir Négrita parmi les sculptures en pierre):

- la panthère sur trois pattes était une première idée alors que le bloc à sculpter m'était encore inconnu.
- la masse grossièrement parallélépipèdique est une maquette du bloc de granit noir (3,2T) à sculpter.
- la panthère dressée sur ses pattes arrière est celle qui sortira du bloc de granit. Son museau prend place à côté du petit perché sur le bloc. En d'autres termes, l'animal dressé sortira du bloc sur lequel il s'appuie.

This two parts bronze sculpture sums up the process to the black granite panther (see Black panther):

- the panther on three paws was the first idea, without knowing the shape of yhe granite block
- the somewhat parallelepipedic block is the model ot the 3,2Ton of black granite) to be carved.
- the standing panther means to be the final design. It is contained in the block. Above is a cub.
